Keeping Families Together

The Keeping Families Together Program offers in-home, in-school, and in-community treatment for troubled children and their families and counseling or therapy services at the CHRIS Counseling Center. Families are generally referred by the Department of Family and Children Services. Our Intensive Community Support Individuals respect the uniqueness of each family’s situation. We start by assessing each family. How can they rebuild? Do they need financial help, clothes for work, transportation or other needs? Does the family need help learning parenting skills, with counseling or substance abuse treatment? We create an individual plan for each family with goals and objectives. We help families reach their goals and teach them how to utilize additional community resources. Keeping Families Together builds strong families that stay together.

"Our son Jamal was having behavioral problems shortly after his younger sister died. My husband had just lost his job and we were struggling to make ends meet. Our son was angry all the time. He had outbursts in school, at home and in public. We did not know what to do and our family seemed to be falling apart. CHRIS Kids helped our family and the Behavior Aides worked with Jamal to control his anger. We got the counseling and services we needed. They even worked with Jamal's teachers and school. We can't say thank you enough for keeping our family together."
