Volunteer Guidelines

Regular / On-Site Volunteer Process
Regular volunteers aredefined as an individuals/groups that serves at the main office or a residential home at least twice a month;

  • Individuals must be 18 years old or over
  • Individuals must complete an Orientation
  • Individuals must complete an Application Packet
  • A Background Check must be completed at a Police Station

Direct Care Volunteer Process
Direct Care volunteers are defined as individuals/groups that directly work with the participants at a residential home at least twice a month;

  • Individuals must be 18 years old or over
  • Individuals must complete an Orientation
  • Individuals must complete an Application Packet
  • A Background Check must be completed at a Police Station

Episodic Volunteer Process
Episodic volunteers are defined as individuals/groups that serve at the main office, residential home or at a special event for one time;

  • Individuals must be 18 years old or over
  • Individuals must complete an Events Orientation

CHRIS Kids reserves the right to refuse the services of individuals/groups – You will not be able to volunteer at CHRIS Kids if you check any of the following:

  • Are 17 or under
  • Court Appointed / Court Mandated Community Service
  • This includes traffic violations, truancy, etc.
  • Convicted of a felony

Volunteer Opportunities

Administrative Assistance

  • Assistant with general office work at the Main Office
    • Creating Flyers, Filing, Making Phone Calls, Stuffing Envelopes, Etc.
    • Sort In-Kind Donations in Pro Bono Room at Main Office

Adopt- A-Home/Family

  • Adopt-A-Home and make it your Own; sponsor a home or family throughout the year as we seek to enhance their overall life experiences
  • Adopt-A-Family to assist in their times of need

Customized Item Drives

  • Mobilize a group to assist in meeting the needs of our participants
    • Clothing Drive
    • Food Drive
    • School Supply Drive

Life Skills & Vocational Instruction

  • Coach participants in general life skills:
    • Coping with adversity, cooking, finances, shopping, etc.
  • Assist participants with basic employment attainment/retention skills:
    • Interviewing, resume writing, soft-skills, work-place conflict, etc.

Meal Preparation

  • Prepare your best Cuisine or Bar-B-Que (family style) for a residential home

Motivational Speaking

  • Reinforce positive behaviors with participants via your personal “story” and how you successfully overcame these challenges

Special Events

  • Assist in a myriad of annual/daily projects at various locations

Tutoring

  • Help participants in a residential home with home work during the school year
