Group Homes
Ages: 6-17 years old
Applicants are evaluated on a case by case basis. The applicant
must demonstrate the need for residential mental health treatment
and have the capacity to benefit from treatment in the group home
setting. The applicant must be able to function in community settings
and successfully complete the application and interview process.
Funding sources include State Treatment Services, the Department
of Family and Children Services, the Department of Juvenile Justice
and the Division of Mental Health.
Camp CHRIS
Camp CHRIS is a 9 week summer day camp for emotionally and behaviorally
chalenged youth ages 6-16. The location of camp in 2009 is Gables
Academy at 811 Gordon St. Stone Mountain, GA 30083. Camp is from
June 1, 2009 through July 31, 2009. The hours of operation are from
8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Camp CHRIS provides
a nutritious breakfast and lunch meals to the youth. Camp CHRIS
provides door to door transportation for participants residing in
Fulton and DeKalb counties and works closely with all families to
coordinate. Transportation for pick up begins as early as 7:00am.
Independent Living Program
Ages: 17-21 years old
Applicants must function at a level adequate to learn independent
living skills and to eventually be able to live independently. Applicants
must be capable of using public transportation and willing to follow
rules in a moderately/minimally supervised environment and obtain
full or part-time employment while completing high school, GED,
college or technical school. Completion of the application process
and a personal interview are required. Funding sources include the
Department of Family and Children Services, the Department of Juvenile
Justice and the Division of Mental Health.
CHRIS Rainbow Program
Ages: 17-21 years old
Any youth who is homeless and without a funding source qualifies
for this independent living program. Targeted outreach is to gay,
lesbian, bisexual, transgener or questioning (GLBTQ) homeless youth.
Youth must be willing to follow basic rules in a minimally supervised
environment, participate in a life skills training program and obtain
full or part-time employment while completing their education or
technical training. Counseling and support services are especially
designed to address the unique needs for safety and acceptance of
the GLBTQ youth population.

Keeping Families Together Community Programs
This program offers in-home, in-school, and in-community treatment
for troubled children and their families. Referrals come from a
wide variety of sources including local county Departments of Family
and Children Services, local juvenile courts, State Treatment Services,
the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Division of Mental Health,
United Way, and self referrals.
